Waiting to land.

These are my random thoughts and muses . . . we're starting from scratch.

Looks like some of the cars I see in England.

I'd love to have one of these. It may look stupid, but how cool would it be just to ride around in something like this?

Evening at Downing College, Cambridge University

Still blows my mind that it gets dark so late here.

SCOTUS speaks.

SCOTUS, in a 5-4 decision, rules against the city of New Haven, Conn. (and in doing so, against Sotomayor), siding with those firefighters who were passed over for promotion on the basis of reverse discrimination. It will certainly be interesting what effect this decision has going forward. Links to a couple stories and the opinion below.

Back to the grind in Cambridge.

Just finished class today, it was a bear to get up in the morning. Was not able to get to sleep last night. I looked around at others in my classes, and for the most part, including myself, looked like zombies.

Paris is past, London is up on deck as this weekend's trip. We are taking a class trip to see some aspects of the legal and legal education systems. Should be pretty interesting. Just need to make sure I get full swing into studying. Never really taken a seminar class, which seems to be the style most of these are taught in. Add to that the shortened time frame the professors are working from, it's certainly interesting. Taking three classes certainly takes planning; it isn't impossible, but certainly doesn't make it easy on you either.

I've begun to go through my pictures from the last week, week and a half, and there's a ton (a ton of horrible shots as well). Need to go through those and finally post them--I've been promising them forever! I hope to begin that tonight.

Cheers!

Made it to Versailles.

Two hours and countless wrong stations later, we finally made it to the Castle of Versailles. We decided to forego trying tonmake it to the correct station and hoofed it to the castle. Unfortunately, we weren't able to make it into the castle, the line was too long and we still have to make it to Heathrow in a couple of hours. We made it to the gardens behind the castle. Again, words can't describe how expansive they are. Gorgeous, well maintained--and they go on forever. One could easily make a day of just the castle. The city looks great from a distance as well. Makes me wish I had more time to explore Paris and all it has to offer. (an maybe get the subway system down too. . .)

Lost in Versailles

Just like a beautiful woman, she will deceive you. Just like a rose has thorns or any other cliches I can throw out there, it's been a morning. First, we found out that our "2 Jour" passes aren't for 48 hours as the lady at Charles de Gaulle Airport told us, but rather for Friday and Saturday. Part of the learning process, right? Well try understanding the Paris subway system with all of it's splits and the fact that the five of us know combined is what I learned back in high school. . . good times. Should have seen this coming after we got lost trying to find our way back to the hotel from the Eiffel Tower and ended up having to catch a cab at 1am back.

Well, we are trying to get to the Castle of Versailles and while we are in Versailles, we aren't at the castle. Apparently we took the correct train line, but the wrong split. UGH. I'm without Internet, and hopefully the right train. Seems as though when I get lost, the trains are 20-30 minutes apart. Double UGH. Learning experience, right?

Paris, you are an amazing city, but your subway system could a serious efficiency evaluation. After Versailles, back to CDG for a flight back to Heathrow. Hold on, guys, got to get off. We took the wrong train. AGAIN.
